“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.”
The best business leaders all have one thing in common: they lead from
the front. They share the same burdens as their employees. They never
spare themselves. They never ask a subordinate to carry out a task they
are not willing to do themselves.
Leaders are not above their teams. They are a part of it. Leaders depend
on their soldiers to provide their part. Leaders provide leadership. The sales
person sells. Neither is more important than the other: both are needed to
get the job done. Participating as a part of the team gives you employees
that will to go the extra mile for you, because they know that you are willing
to do the same for them.
Good leadership isn’t about advancing yourself. It’s about advancing
your team. Leaders become great, not because of their power, but
because of their ability to empower others. Leadership is action, not
position or words. When people feel liked, cared for, included, valued, and
trusted, they begin to work together with their leader and each other.
A great leader knows the importance of sharing and teaching the
reasons for your success to others. Look to see potential in others and
help to create opportunities for them to grow and advance.
Great leadership is about genuine respect for ourselves and very
definitely for others. You must be fair with everyone, listen with care
to them, and be lead from out front.
